Desert Star Theater

Our good friends Zack and Sara convinced us to get season tickets to the Desert Star Theater in Murray. The playhouse is known for it's zany musical parodies and last night was our first play of the year - Home School Musical - which took aim at the High School Musical craze. My expectations were pretty high going into the play (as Zack and Sara had talked the place up), and yet I was still blown away - it was hilarious! I was thoroughly impressed, and found myself laughing-out-loud a lot!

They did a great job of poking good-hearted fun at Utah and Mormon culture. The show's synopsis doesn't even do it justice:

"After rebellious teenager Zack Teflon gets kicked out of every high school he attends, his parents only have one option left--home school. Now a psychotic congressman is out to abolish the home school program because there is not enough emphasis on the arts. Zack and his newfound friends, Amanda Hugginkiss, Palmyra Kirtland and Linoleum Dynamite, only have one hope of stopping him--and that’s to put on a show!"
The whole night was a lot of fun, and we are looking forward to the next play - American Fork Idol - too bad it won't start till March.

That sounds pretty hilarious! We're jealous we have nothing like that here!

I went to a play there, I can't remember which one but we had a fabulous time it sounds like a good investment to get season tickets.
